Robert Reburn

Assistant Director of Communications

Rob’s entire career has been spent serving the state of Tennessee. He comes to the UT System after having worked at the Tennessee Department of Correction for nearly 17 years, where he spent the last 10 years serving as the East Region public information officer. In that role, Rob handled public affairs, managed and created content for social media accounts, and assisted in strategic communications for numerous major internal initiatives and changes.

Rob has a passion for connecting with people on a personal level to tell their stories, especially their accomplishments and successes. He is excited for the opportunities to do just that at UT System. As assistant director of communications, he will provide communications management and support primarily to the Office of Finance & Administration and Human Resources Department.

Originally from Memphis, Rob is a Tennessee native who has spent the last 20 years living in the Tri-Cities area. He attended East Tennessee State University where he earned his bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism. An avid runner, Rob also enjoys hiking, snowboarding, and surfing as well as spending time outdoors with his wife, Katie, and his dog, Max.
